Louie’s Pizza
Neighborhood: Knox/Henderson
Cuisine: pizza
Little “dive” places ROCK in my book, and I finally got a chance to indulge in Louie’s Pizza on Henderson. It’s small inside so tables are bit tight, but it fits well with the atmosphere. The vibe is “old school” in the sense that the place has been there forever so there’s a relaxing neighborhood feel about it. The moderately dark wood paneling and bar serve to further augment that feeling.
I was surprised to have to wait for 20 minutes on a Wednesday night for a table, but then I’m convinced no one in Dallas really works so what else would they be doing but dining, shopping or drinking. Fortunately, we can knock out two of those at Louie’s… I should have looked to see if they sell shirts.
The pizza is good, I wouldn’t call it exceptional but good, the service was “acceptable” not exceptional, but not bad in any way and they have a good selection of beer (bottle only). Louie’s is definitely a place to take any out-of-town guest that wants to hit someplace that will make them feel like a local. The only downside is parking, which is par for the course in Dallas these days, otherwise Louie’s is a great place for pizza and beer.
