On a rainy Spring day in 2005, Heidi Dillon was attending a fashion show at Neiman Marcus downtown. Sitting in the hallowed Couture Salon of the historic store, she was overcome with a divine inspiration. “The idea of a fashion museum in Dallas struck me and I became wholly consumed with bringing that vision to reality,” she says.
“The next day I created a stack of membership forms for a group I’d call THE FASHIONISTAS, for those who shared my love and appreciation of fashion. Standing at the corner of the Chanel store in Highland Park Village, I coerced friends for a $200 membership fee to join my new group. Uncertain if it was their commitment to fashion or their way of getting me off their back, I embarked on this remarkable journey,” which she says has brought her to where she is today.
At the kickoff party, Heidi proposed a toast to raising the money to construct an internationally renowned fashion museum in the heart of downtown Dallas. Today, because of member support, that vision is closer to reality.
