the Cockpit (no, it is not a gay bar) near Love Field
Where is The Grapevine on this list???
@gabriella – added!
@brian – couldn’t find much on the place, but what I founded sounded more “Night Club” and less “dive bar”
yeah, um, your information couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, it is the only one that would truly qualify as a dive bar. The rest are trendy places that upscale d-bags go to when they want to feel like they’re slummin it
brian, dunno, didn’t find a lot on the place and never been there. The only description I found was “night club” and I wouldn’t exactly call these places anything but dive bars.
It is a dump of a little place with a 3 sided bar, a jukebox, and pool table and that’s it. Called the Cockpit b/c it is near the airport and pilots and other airline staff hang out there. The kind of place where regulars go who take their drinking seriously. Go there more than once and they will remember your name. There are 3-4 ladies who regularly tend bar. It’s a beer only place but you can bring your own liquor. There’s no disco ball, no DJ, no dance floor. If you go, you’ll be the youngest one there by at least 15 years. Patrons are real salt-of-the-earth type people. There’s a joint next door that makes awesome little hamburgers.
